COSCA is happy to post your clan announcements on our website. All major announcements are welcome, such as: AGM notices, upcoming trips/tours, games schedules, Flowers of the Forest, etc. Simply email us with your information. Announcements are posted in the order they are received and may be edited to fit page format.

 CLAN MacALPINE SOCIETY 2012 AGM at PLEASANTON GAMES - It has been ten years since the Society held its annual meeting at Pleasanton and we are anxious to return. Located just outside San Francisco, with easy airport access, plentiful hotels and many area activities, it is a great place to hold our meeting. The 147th Scottish Gathering and Highland Games will be over Labor Day weekend, 2012 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. It is sponsored by the Caledonian Club of San Francisco.

 SAN DIEGO TARTAN DAY - APRIL 7, 2021 -  Dear Lads & Lassies traveling to Southern California,   For your calendars: San Diego Tartan Day. Balboa Park, International Cottages, San Diego. Saturday April 7th. 2012 11 am – 4 pm. Admission – Free Enjoy music and dance featuring some of the Southern California’s most exciting Scottish Entertainers, including Pipers and Dancers. House of Scotland Ceilidh Band, House of Scotland Pipe Band, San Diego School of Highland Dancing. Displays by many Scottish Organizations from all over Southern California, including several individual Scottish Clans.   THE CALEDONIAN FOUNDATION USA, longtime supporters of COSCA, urge everyone to celebrate the following anniversary dates relating to a Great Scot:

  • Nov. 6, 1861 - Birth of James Naismith, Scots/Canadian/American, in Almonte, Ont. Canada, - who invented the Game of Basketball.

  CLAN ARTHUR ASSOCIATION USA - 2011 AGM - Chief John Alexander MacArthur of that Ilk, chief of Clan Arthur, and his wife Lorraine MacArthur of that Ilk will be at the McPherson, KS Scottish Festival September 23-25, 2011.   WOODS FAMILY The Woods Family has been meeting for some 80 years annually. The family history told through the generations is that they came from Scotland to Ireland and then to the United States. James and Elizabeth Woods came and settled in Western Pennsylvania in or on about l792 with three children. the family will be meeting again on July 23/24, 2011 For information, please contact Ronald W.   SCOTTISH HERITAGE WEEKEND St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Laurinburg, NC -  March 18-20, 2011. Featured speakers include: Mairi Sine Caimbeul from Sabhal Mor Ostaig (The Gaelic College in Skye); Rusty Roberson (University of Edinburgh); Anne Landin (Editor of Argyll Colony Plus journal); and Scotland's foremost musicologist, Dr. John Purser. Recipient of the 2011 Flora MacDonald Award will be renown Scottish fiddler Bonnie Rideout. The Scottish Heritage Center Service Award will be given to Ross M. Morrison, President of the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. Saturday night concert will feature: Bonnie Rideout on fiddle with narration by Dr. John Purser, Gaelic song by Mairi Sine Caimbeul, and piping and drumming by members of the St. Andrews Presbyterian College Pipe Band.   CENTRAL TEXAS AREA MUSEUM - SALADO SCOTTISH GATHERING & GAMES  The 49th Annual Salado Scottish Gathering and Games will be held on Nov 12-14, 2010. Ticket info on the web site.   SCOTTISH SOCIETY OF INDIANAPOLIS, INC.  The Inaugural Indianapolis Scottish Highland Games & Festival will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2020 beginning at 9 AM.  The event will be held at the Latvian Center 1008 W. 64th Street, Indianapolis, IN.  We will have full athletic events, pipers, music, dance, food, clans, re-enactors.  For more information go to www.indyscot.org and then click on games.

   AMERICAN CLAN LOCKHART SOCIETY  - will hold their 2010 AGM at the Salado Games, Salado TX on November 12 -14.

 

CLAN GALBRAITH 2010 CLAN GATHERING  The 2010 Gathering will be held May 18 through May 21, 2021 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Immediately following, on May 22 & 23 will be the 73rd Victoria Highland Games and Celtic Festival, featuring the World Championships of the heavy events (caber toss, hammer throw, weight throw, Braemar stone put and weight over bar) contact : Contact Joyce Higginbotham at joyceh@pahrump.com for futher information.

THE CLAN LESLIE SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL  will hold its biennial Gathering at the Loch Norman Highland Games in Huntersville, North Carolina April 16-18.  Our clan chief, The Honorable Alexander Leslie, will be in attendance and the Clan Leslie Society will be the honored clan at this event.
