MacALPINE SOCIETY 2012 AGM at PLEASANTON GAMES -
It has been ten years since the Society held its
annual meeting at Pleasanton and we are anxious to return.
Located just outside San Francisco, with easy airport access,
plentiful hotels and many area activities, it is a great place
to hold our meeting. The 147th Scottish Gathering and Highland
Games will be over Labor Day weekend, 2012 at the Alameda County
Fairgrounds. It is sponsored by the Caledonian Club of San
Francisco.
Our host for the event will be Renee Hensley,
Clan MacAlpine Society Western US Coordinator. We look forward

DIEGO TARTAN DAY - APRIL 7, 2021 - Dear
Lads & Lassies traveling to Southern California, For
your calendars: San Diego Tartan Day. Balboa Park, International
Cottages, San Diego. Saturday April 7th. 2012 11 am – 4 pm.
Admission – Free Enjoy music and dance featuring some of the
Southern California’s most exciting Scottish Entertainers,
including Pipers and Dancers. House of Scotland Ceilidh Band,
House of Scotland Pipe Band, San Diego School of Highland
Dancing. Displays by many Scottish Organizations from all over
Southern California, including several individual Scottish

Scots/Canadian/American, in Almonte, Ont. Canada, - who invented
the Game of Basketball.
Dec. 21, 1891 - The first time the game was
played anywhere in the world - at the YMCA Intl. Training School
in Springfield, Mass., where Naismith was on the staff. For info

CLAN ARTHUR ASSOCIATION USA - 2011 AGM -
Chief John Alexander MacArthur of that Ilk, chief

WOODS FAMILY
The Woods Family has been meeting for some
80 years annually. The family history told through the
generations is that they came from Scotland to Ireland and then
to the United States. James and Elizabeth Woods came and settled
in Western Pennsylvania in or on about l792 with three children.

Andrews Presbyterian College, Laurinburg, NC - March
18-20, 2011. Featured speakers include: Mairi Sine Caimbeul from
Sabhal Mor Ostaig (The Gaelic College in Skye); Rusty Roberson
(University of Edinburgh); Anne Landin (Editor of Argyll Colony
Plus journal); and Scotland's foremost musicologist, Dr. John
Purser. Recipient of the 2011 Flora MacDonald Award will be
renown Scottish fiddler Bonnie Rideout. The Scottish Heritage
Center Service Award will be given to Ross M. Morrison,
President of the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. Saturday
night concert will feature: Bonnie Rideout on fiddle with
narration by Dr. John Purser, Gaelic song by Mairi Sine Caimbeul,
and piping and drumming by members of the St. Andrews
Presbyterian College Pipe Band. Kirkin of the Tartans Worship on
